Goddess Meenakshi Ring

She refused to vanish - so I sculpted a ring about it.

In the myth, the warrior Meenakshi is born with a third breast, representing her intellect, autonomy and warrior spirit. Legend says it vanishes the day she marries. Here, I rewrote the story so it multiplies into sisters, lovers, allies. Into every woman who has ever refused to bow down. 

The knife-edge band honors my Shinto heritage - Amaterasu, goddess of radiance and solidarity. From above, the ring appears as a flower or starfish. Turn it sideways and the hidden anatomy reveals itself: what lives beneath adornment, worn openly. This ring insists on expansion, reclamation, and defiance.
