Stephy Ai is an independent fine-jewelry practice exploring the shape that feeling takes when it becomes tangible. Founded by queer Japanese-American artist and technical jeweler Stephanie Ai Cummings, the practice transforms lived experiences of love and the memories they leave behind into sculptural, emotionally charged objects that hold stories close.
Inspired by the many ways love moves through our lives, from bliss to heartbreak and the strange, messy spaces in between, Stephy Ai brings sculptural artistry into conversation with playful defiance. Each piece is an invitation to wear something deeply personal, a little unexpected, and entirely your own.
Ai (愛), Stephanie’s middle name, means “love” in Japanese. Perhaps this practice was always written in the name.
Stephy Ai is a queer, Japanese American jewelry artist creating sculptural fine jewelry and custom commissions from her New York City studio. Trained in the visual arts and hydrological sciences, and GIA-trained in CAD/CAM design and engineering, she makes jewelry that gives structural form to intangible feeling: exploring the arc of love, not just the bliss, but the messy in between.
Stephy is a 2026 Mentoro x WJA Jewelry & Watches New York Cohort mentee and was a 2024 WJA Jewelry Loupe Project mentee. Her work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami in partnership with the Lonely Whale Foundation.
Her middle name, Ai (愛), means love in Japanese - the throughline of every piece she makes.
